Deep in the South Pacific are little islands,
just like this,
seemingly detached, separate, alone.
But they are all connected by the channels of the ocean.
There's a saying in Samoa -- Leasi se tagata tu na'o ia.
No man is a Mountain.
This is another way of saying no man is an island,
no man stands alone.
Even in the most solitary of actions --
be it, a free-standing handstand,
a place-kicker staring at the uprights,
a golfer wading in the sand pit,
we are all still connected to one another and to the greater channel of life.
When we lose sight of this connection,
that's when we truly lose...
